Step two (on hold)…

Remember how I mentioned we wanted to tear down a wall in our kitchen during our mini-kitchen remodel this summer?  Well, it looks like we may be putting that “little” project on hold for a while.

Because we live in a two-story home, our biggest fear would be that the wall was load-bearing… and that biggest fear came true (and then some).  We had a contractor confirm this, but the wall is definitely load bearing…

… and full of water pipes and HVAC as well.  Can you say CHA-CHING?  We haven’t completely given up on our dream of removing most of the wall to create a better flow throughout our home… but it definitely needs to be put on hold for a while.  We’re slightly bummed, but trying to remain positive.  I mean, hey – at least we get to move our dishwasher to a better location and have an island instead of a bar.  And our hardwood floors will still be installed.  AND – I think I might have even thought of a fun way to spruce up the wall… so maybe it is not the end of the world that it has to stick around.
