Kingston + Great Grandpa

Boy, have we been busy!  The past couple of days have been spent with my grandpa and aunt – they arrived on Sunday for the holiday season.  Tomorrow sister comes back from her cruise and the hubs’s sister & family come into town to celebrate… we can’t wait!  I will definitely be taking a ton of pictures and will be sure to share a few.  Our time is quickly filling up, so I may not blog again until after Christmas.  So, from our family to yours…

This is a picture of our home all decked out in lights from last Christmas, as posted HERE.  With a newborn and extremely cold temperatures, our home currently only has half of our Christmas lights up.  The hubs and I decided that with only a few days until Christmas, it isn’t really worth it to finish the lights.  So today we will take them down and remember our beautiful home from last year…

On another note, my Aunt Barb and Grandpa will be in town today to celebrate the holidays with us.  So excited to see them and have Kingston meet one of his Great Aunts and his Great Grandpa.  Hooray!

Do you know who you are sending your emails to?  Probably should double-check… unless you want to randomly email someone, like our new “friend” Ben.  Approximately a year ago, if not longer, we received our first email from Ben who resides back east.  Ben is unknown to us or our families.  Now, the neighborly thing would have been to reply to the first email and inform Ben that he is not contacting the correct person/family.  But did we do that?  No.

Let the emails continue on.

In the past few months, we have received tons of updates on how Ben’s family is doing – stories ranging from their children to their big move (which included their new home address).  We have even received emails including pictures of Ben’s family.  Most recently, we have received two emails in regards to the weather forecast.  These two emails caught my eye, as they were signed “Meteorogically yours.”  Who signs emails this way??  Through a little investigating and Google searching, I was able to find out that Ben is a former chief meteorologist back east who resigned in August due to his arrest for assaulting his estranged wife.

Very interesting.  I think I’ll be triple-checking my emails now… oh, and the hubs?  He has one suggestion for Ben: “Stop beating your wife, Ben.”

… and I’m remembering a blog that sister posted about hard candy nail polish.  While sister may be living it up on her mini-Mexican getaway, I may live it up a bit today and run to the store to pick up the following shade:

Its fun and festive – and honestly, a little daring for my nail polish tastes.  Christmas is around the corner and all I can think about is red, green… and maybe a little white snow?  Here’s wishing…

I cannot get enough of my Lil’ Love.

… you enjoy the peacefulness that follows a nighttime feeding:

oh, and check out my sweet little boy in his reindeer outfit:

LOVE.

Dear Santa,

I would absolutely LOVE an apple laptop… MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro – whichever is easiest, I’m not picky.

Thanks,

Jennifer

The hubs’s “beast.”

For those of you who do not know, this is the hubs’s computer.  The tower is very large, has 2 hard drives, and weighs 80 lbs – hence the nickname, beast.  In the past, I have wanted to destroy the beast… hide the beast… sell the beast.  But because my laptop has decided to not recognize my wireless card and has been a pain in my rump, I am left with the beast as my computer option for the time being.

I suppose I should take back all those mean thoughts I have had for you, beast.  I apologize.  And thank you for quickly and efficiently connecting me to the internet.  You are beautiful.

I’m not sure if I have shared this on here or not – but Kingston has a hard time with diaper changes.  He does not like to be naked and lets me know it every single time… by crying.  Sometimes it is a little cry and sometimes it is a very panicked baby infant scream/cry.  It all depends on how long I am taking.  I’ve tried several methods of cheering him up during the process:  singing, kissing his feet, reassuring him, talking to him, kissing his forehead, etc.  Nothing makes him happy until I start to dress him again.

And along with each and every diaper change I think of a story my sister-in-law shared with me before Kingston was a twinkle in our eye… about our niece’s baby monitor.

Like the good mommy that she is, my sister-in-law will sing, talk, baby talk, and make sounds for Brooklyn in order to make her happy and have some fun interaction… all that can be heard on a baby monitor if close by.  Well, one day her neighbor informed her that he had a scanner in his home and that he could pick up every word/sound that the baby monitor picks up in her home.  Needless to say, this bothered my sister-in-law just a little bit.

Now, all of our diaper changes take place in Kingston’s nursery… right by his baby monitor.  Because I have this story in my mind, I am always sure to talk to the monitor in order to let it be known that we are in the process of a diaper change and that I am not neglecting my child, beating my child, etc. by turning toward the monitor and clearly stating a diaper change is in process…

“Alright Kingston, after we CHANGE YOUR DIAPER, we will go cuddle downstairs.”

AFTER THIS DIAPER CHANGE, do you want to nurse Kingston?”

“So sorry Kingston, YOUR DIAPER CHANGE is taking forever today… mommy will try to hurry.”

Who knows if anyone can pick up our monitor or not (our neighbor is a detective for the police department), but I will continue talking to the baby monitor with each and every diaper change anyway.

Yep… just call me crazy baby monitor lady.

We are having an open house at our home for those who are interested in welcoming our beautiful baby boy Kingston.  It’s been a nice day so far – still can’t quite grasp the fact that our boy is 4 weeks old (tomorrow marks one month)!

Oh, and I’m loving this time of year… I’ve had the Christmas music playing all morning, Christmas lights on the tree, we’ve exchanged a few gifts with friends, and the cinnamon candles are a glow.  Couldn’t be any better!

Happy Saturday, everyone!
